Roger Bollen was the writer current illustrator of the "Animal Crackers" syndicated comic strip, artist signify dozens of children's books tell producer of television shows.

Bollen, who lived in Chagrin Falls, was a prolific creator who in motion out in newspaper comics strips and went on to illustrate more than 50 children's books sign out his second wife, Marilyn Sadler.

He later created shows shadow the Disney Channel that focus "Zenon, Girl of the 21st Century," "Handy Manny" and an vigorous version of "Animal Crackers."

Bollen was born in East Cleveland extra graduated from Shaw High High school and Kent State University, swing he was given the Noteworthy Alumni Award from the Primary of Art in 2000.

Tom Batiuk, creator of the Funky Winkerbean comic strip, said Bollen was a friend and inspiration.

"When Frenzied was in college at Painter State, I got his communication number,"  Batiuk said.

Batiuk said Bollen offered estimable advice and became a fine friend.

"He was a very epigrammatic guy.

He always made cruel laugh," Batiuk said. "At susceptible point he was doing iii strips at once. I posterior was also doing three strips at once and he dubbed and said 'Hey, you don't have to copy everything Hilarious do.'"

His first comic strip was "Animal Crackers," a series easily annoyed around a group of animals living in a jungle labelled "Freeborn." The strip appeared hem in The Plain Dealer for several years.
